Digital Media Project Manager

Canada Wide Media Limited is interested in an organized multi-tasker who can manage projects and people.

The Digital Media Project Manager works within Canada Wide Media’s Digital Media Division to oversee all aspects of assigned digital projects, using planning, monitoring and controlling processes. The Digital Project Manager is responsible for completion of digital media projects on time, on budget and on spec. To this end, the Digital PM performs a variety of tasks including, but not limited to, coordinating all resources and stakeholders; setting deadlines; assigning responsibilities; and monitoring, summarizing and communicating the progress of assigned projects.

The Digital Project Manager reports to the Digital Media Operations Manager.

Responsibilities include:

  • Plan projects in order to accomplish its goals within constraints such as time, cost and agreed quality standards
  • Gather project requirements and stakeholder input to create and communicate workable project briefs, wireframes, mockups, technical documentation and project plans
  • Schedule tasks, resources, deadlines and milestones for all stakeholders and resources and adjust as required
  • Monitor and report on the progress of projects to stakeholders
  • Identify schedule uncertainties and risks and create contingency plans and timelines
  • Ensure that projects are delivered within financial requirements
  • Ensure projects meet industry leading quality standards
  • Run projects on a day-to-day basis
  • Disseminate production information to production team and stakeholders through task and sub-tasks assignment based on requirements
  • Efficiently and competently manage problems -- when things go off plan (due to scope-creep, changed requirements, missed deadlines etc.) bring them back on plan or create a new plan with the assistance of key stakeholders
  • Intimately understand the requirements of projects and ensure that work proceeds on-spec
  • Evaluate deliverables prepared by the team to make sure the work meets requirements and maintains a high level of quality
  • Identify opportunities for project improvement and/or new projects, driving project approval and initiation
  • Plan for and oversee project testing and quality assurance
  • Coordinate and facilitate after-action reviews (AARs) after completion of a project
  • Facilitate team and client meetings effectively
  • Hold regular status meetings with project team and stakeholders
  • Coordinate communication between staff and client
  • Keep project team and stakeholders well informed of any organizational or technical issues that may affect project
  • Effectively communicate relevant project information to superiors
  • Resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely fashion
  • Understand how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of project management experience in a software development environment
  • Experience with planning tools such as OmniPlan, Omnigraffle, Basecamp
  • Experience with bug reporting/ticketing tools such as Assembla
  • Impeccable time management skills: a strong aptitude for prioritizing tasks and requirements
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • The ability to foster motivation within the project team to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to multi-task and be responsible for multiple projects at a time
  • A proven track record of successful project implementation
  • Excellent client facing and presentation skills
  • Experience of the whole project life cycle, able to operate in the initial conceptual design stage, in the depths of system testing, and at each stage in between
  • The ability to have a strong impact and influence key decisions
